Privacy policy
Last updated 29 July 2026
We are a dog groomer, not a data business. We collect what we need to look after your dog and to run the shop, we keep it carefully, and we do not sell it to anybody.
Who we are
The Paws, a Groomed by Vanessa company, 3487 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY 10306. Reach us at (347) 222-3707 or info@thepaws.club. This policy covers thepaws.club and the systems we use to run the salon.
What we collect
| About you | Name, mobile number, email, and address when you give it to us. Your appointment history and what you have paid. |
|---|---|
| About your dog | Name, breed, age, weight, sex, coat, temperament, medical notes, allergies, vet details, vaccination records, and the notes our groomers keep so the next groom goes the way the last one did. |
| Photographs | Pictures of your dog taken during a visit, so we can show you the result and remember the cut. |
| Messages and calls | The texts between us, and call notes. Calls to and from the salon may be recorded for quality and for training. |
| Signed agreements | The intake forms and consents you sign, kept as a record that they were signed. |
| Website use | Standard server logs from our host. This site has no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, no Facebook pixel and no cookie banner — because it sets no tracking cookies to ask you about. |
What we never hold
Your card number. Payments are taken through Square, and card details go straight to Square — they never reach our systems, so there is nothing there for anyone to take.
Why we hold it
- To groom your dog safely. Vaccination status, medical notes and temperament are not paperwork; they are how nobody gets hurt.
- To book, confirm and remind you about appointments.
- To take payment and keep the accounts the law requires us to keep.
- To do the same good job next time, which is what the groomer’s notes are for.
- Occasionally, to ask how a visit went or to invite you back.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that make the shop work, and only the part each one needs:
| Square | Payments, and the appointment record attached to them. |
|---|---|
| RingCentral | Our phone and text line. Handles the messages and calls themselves. |
| Supabase | Where the salon’s records are stored, encrypted, in the United States. |
| Netlify | Serves this website. |
| Only if you choose to leave a public review. We never send Google your details. | |
| Gusto | Payroll. Staff information only — never client or pet information. |
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising. We will hand information to law enforcement or a court only where we are legally required to, and to a vet or animal-control officer where your dog’s welfare or someone’s safety depends on it.
Our team’s access
Staff see only what their job needs. A groomer sees the dogs they are working on; the full client and financial records are limited to the owners. When someone leaves us, their access is revoked the same day.
How long we keep it
Client and pet records stay while you are a client and for seven years after your last visit, which is what the tax and business-record rules require. Call recordings are deleted automatically after a short retention period. Photographs are kept until you ask us to remove them. Opt-out records are kept permanently, on purpose — it is the only way to be sure we never text you again by accident.
What you can ask us to do
- See what we hold about you and your dog.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it, except the small amount we are legally required to retain.
- Stop texting you — see the SMS terms.
- Take down a photograph of your dog.
Ask by phone, by text, by email, or in person. We do not charge for any of it, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Security
Records are encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted by role, and every change to a client record is logged with who made it. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affected your information we would tell you, and we would tell you quickly.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be announced, not slipped in.
Questions, or a complaint
Talk to us first — (347) 222-3707 or info@thepaws.club. We would much rather fix it ourselves.
